Nice to see you here Cork, great timing!

Mining of the black channel will be very interesting, and I'm looking to forward to seeing some of those nuggets that we all know are still there.

From an earlier post from Foxwoodsfan

This is a copy of Bulletin 193 from the California Division of Mines & Geology dated 1970. Lots of cool and intersting reading in this, here's some highlights about the Ruby Mine:

Pg. 10 - Stated Ruby Mine has produced nuggets up to 52 pounds.

Pg. 14 - Ruby listed as Major Drift Mine.

Pg. 15 - Ruby listed under Placer Deposits.

Pg. 16 - South of Downieville, map indicates Gold Belt or Vien Systems in the Ruby Mine area.

Pg. 18 - South of Downieville, map indicates Tertiary Channels in the Ruby Mine area.

Pg. 22 - Shows the Ruby Adit.

Pg. 23 - Ruby stated to be one of the largest gold producers in the Allegany District.

Pg. 24 (my favorite) - Shows a photo of some nice big nuggets from the Ruby Mine.

Lots and lots of gold in this area still!
