Barn Cat Thinks UCP Is Opening Operation In New York Soon.

Some may say that NYC is becoming the new ”Silicon Valley” or tech center of the U.S. I would suggest this is true. More and more IT start-ups are flocking to NYC, some to Brooklyn, others to Long Island. With digital communications leading the way, 3Kronor strengthens. And did you know where most of the entrepreneurial start ups and IT progress comes from? You got it: Sweden.

Having just returned from Stockholm, I have witnessed time and time again a revolution of sorts. The omnipresent growth of start ups is remarkable, given the size of Sweden. Whether it’s Spotify, Readly, Wifog or others, all have one common denominator: Sweden. The advent of new ideas and concepts is mind boggling. With these ideas, Swedes are flocking to NYC, the nerve center of the world when it comes to fashion, banking, and now IT.

NYC attracts plenty of venture capital. This we know. But what most don’t no is that we are experiencing a Swedish invasion, one that will forever change our way of doing business. This is a great statement as it seems too many people rest on their laurels without making much change. If ”it aint broke don’t fix it” attitude wildly exists among employees of NY companies. In Sweden, that certainly is not part of their vocabulary.

While Silicon Valley of the East may never come close to displacing Silicon Valley as the leading destination for start-up funding, it’s nipping at the heels of arch-rival Boston. According to data released in late January by the National Venture Capital Association and PricewaterhouseCoopers, the rate of growth in New York’s Silicon Valley was significantly higher than that seen in either of its rivals. Its start-ups pulled in $2.7 billion of venture financing in 2011, up from $2 billion in 2010. As IT grows more and more, I am excited to be a part of 3Kronor’s communications journey, one that certainly has NYC on its mind.
