Darn it! Mussels is a pure Belgian national dish, but are imported from the Netherlands. Dutch produce them but don't know how to serve them. Hence Belgium is the bigger consumer and importer of Dutch mussels.
Beer? Biggest brewery of the world now is InBev (Belgian brew if I may say so <vbg>, now a Belgian-Bresilian multinational) now relocating in Czech Republic (where they brew Pilsen).
Beer (is not Belgian anymore) and mussels (which are Dutch)? At least we still have our chocolate (at which the EU refused a label of Belgian chocolate to be made of 100% chocolate vs. what the rest of the world spends money at buying soy oil which is called chocolate,... well...).
