Simple. Their explanation as to where their "revenues" come from is nothing more than an armwave, and when they tell us about dispersal of stock, there's always references to this or that shadowy outfit that they owed money to, and it's always the very first time anyone has even heard about that debt.

So, we have money that comes in the window via pixies, and who knows how many secret debts.

The auditor is supposed to verify their revenue and debt statements. Since those statements are nebulous at best, it seems they're relying on the auditor to explain those numbers and debts in the first place.

It won't due to say "We don't know who we've borrowed millions of dollars from, and we don't know where our millions of dollars in revenue come from. But we've hired a well-known accounting firm to help us with those niggling details."

That's not how it works.
