Apparently different types of oil can follow one another in a pipeline.

See my post 11030 for a reference link.

There is some treatment required for what they call the “transmix” to separate the mixing of the different batches.
Of course it is a question as to whether that happens on this particular pipeline.

My take-away, rather than moving the AOT the other option is to change the incoming flow to a different type of oil.
