Crypto-Currency's Brave New World No Field of Dreams

A couple of weeks ago, I posted a rant on my website where – let's face it – I bitched a lot about crap coins and scam coins and their developers and what needed to be done to prevent the same shit from happening over and over again.

It wasn’t pretty. It was honest, but it wasn’t pretty.

So this week, while I was racking my brain for ideas, something occurred to me that we miners, traders, and collectors of altcoins don’t like to hear.

A lot of what is wrong is our own damn fault.

That's right. I said it. We bitch and moan about everything from pump and dump coins to premines to instamining and everything in between but it seems like we never stop to consider that WE are as much to blame for shooting altcoins in the metaphorical foot as are the developers themselves.

We complain about the fact that this altcoin or that won't have any real value until it can be used to buy and sell things, but do most of us even lift a finger to help it along? No. We sit on our asses and expect the developers to do all the heavy lifting and then we bitch some more when the developers try to assert their right to be compensated for all of the crazy hours of work that they've put in.

There's a lot wrong with this picture, and imho it isn't just the developers' responsibility to fix it.

So - what can we do to start cleaning up the altcoin industry, if anything?
