Funny that some folks don't realize that mining companies gobble each other up (along with their assets) all the time. Perhaps some people haven't noticed that Phelps Dodge no longer exists?

As you pointed out, the reason these mining claims in Nevada were owned by a guy like Erickson was that the "big guys" had already looked at the land, and rejected it as a worthy exploration target. Erickson's game over the years has been to claim land and then promote the claims to gullible investors. In this case, he peddled them off to CJTF, who has turned around and is playing the same game that Erickson was doing.
