CMMobile Partners with Ctrip
HONG KONG, Friday August 15, 2014 – VelaTel Global Communications (OTCQB:VELA), a leader in deploying and operating wireless broadband and telecommunication networks worldwide, today announced its wholly owned subsidiary, China Motion Telecom (HK) Limited (CMMobile), has signed an agreement with Ctrip.com International Ltd. (NASDAQ:CTRP). Ctrip, www.english.ctrip.com, is a leading travel brand in Asia, providing their 141 million registered members with comprehensive travel services. Ctrip will rent a CMMobile pocket Wi-Fi to Ctrip’s customers traveling to Hong Kong for which the customer will have access up to 500MB per day for 29RMB (approximately US$5). Customers will have access to the best 4G LTE network in Hong Kong, allowing them to stay continuously connected within the city and surrounding areas. Pocket Wi-Fi’s will be delivered to customers at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) for their immediate use upon arrival.
Business travel from China has seen an average of 16% annual increase in travel dollars spent since 2000, with an estimated US$225 Billion spent in 2013, and is projected to be the largest business travel market in the world by 2016 (forecast by Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), read full story here). According to the GBTA, the Asia Pacific region is already the largest business travel region in the world, generating 38% of all global travel. “With business travel booming in the area, this is a key partnership for CMMobile,” observed Jim Yang, VP of Operations of CMMobile.
