That's funny! The fed trial of former VA governor Bob McDonnell and his wife Maureen has been very entertaining...The prosecution wrapped up their side of the case on Thursday, defense begins Monday - it'll be tough to defend a couple who were so greedy, but good (highly-paid att'ys) will probably do the job well...For McDonnells had $90,000 in credit card debt and were underwater in vacation-type mortgaged-properties they shared with Bob's sister. Then VA CEO Jonnie Williams came along and needed "a little help" promoting his nutrition product, which (for a price) Maureen McDonnell recommended to Ann Romney for her MS problems! While they had such a high credit card debt, Maureen gave Bob a $7,000 ROLEX watch for Xmas, and Bob claims he never thought to ask her how she could afford it!
Bob McDonnell is not only accused of using his office for financial gain, but also 2 counts of bank fraud - he never listed on his mortgage re-fi application the %50,000 loan he got from Williams - money Williams gave McDonnell to help pay the mortgages, and he never listed the Williams' loan on a Credit Union app for a loan.
This is the "Family Values" guy we were told was under consideration for VP for Romney - apparently Romney's vetting operation was better than his pollsters!
