Yeah Pasta, SIA wants to keep it in the family, no doubt. Cuts back on the ideal of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) to reduce costs. May be necessary. I appreciate this perspective from Dan, while remembering yours.

SIA members holding out cause they refuse to accept the mandate, and won't go through dealers. The IPV's may be the DLA's only answer for their needs unfortunately. This is what Dan said:

Regarding costs.....DLA now spends 2x what they were spending on FSC5962 product pre-mandate. They now execute 90% of their transactions with brokers and spend 80% of their money with brokers. This was flipped around pre-mandate. These consequences of the mandate were foretold by SIA members directly to DLA. DLA has increased their odds of counterfeit, particularly with clones which get by simple visual inspection being done by brokers. Authenticity is mistakenly being equated to Reliability and they are not the same.

That's elegantly articulated. We can say things like that too. Gotta prepare.

I think there's room for all of us. Independent brokers may be an area that has to change. Just looking at more sides than I was a couple of hours ago.
