the real victim here is justice...
why bother having a jury system if their verdict can be so easily overturned by 2 judges who weren't even present at trial.
seems to me like if there is any indecision within the judging panel then all you need to do is compromise one person and the whole case can be thrown out.
I was under the impression that they could only reduce the damages on appeal.. I guess I need to learn more about this joke they call a legal system.
when you think about it.. if VRNG get to appeal then the balance is still in their favour because two judges, a Jury and the USPTO were in support of VRNG... somehow two other judges managed to overrule them all.
feels more like a poker game than a legal battle.
I think the biggest strategic mistake that VRNG made was to not Ask HJJ to clarify the calculation error with the Jury. Since that issue was never properly resolved it seems to have been easy for GOOG to sow enough doubt about the jury verdict to get it overturned.
