Sorry to drop in and out, but this IHUP thing sucks and I honestly don't have time to monitor stock boards. I dropped by because my ears were burning about us getting an order from DLA and somebody implying that means we mark parts. We don't. DLA can do whatever they want with parts after they purchase them (our recommendation from the beginning). My logging in had zero to do with House hearings.

Regarding costs.....DLA now spends 2x what they were spending on FSC5962 product pre-mandate. They now execute 90% of their transactions with brokers and spend 80% of their money with brokers. This was flipped around pre-mandate. These consequences of the mandate were foretold by SIA members directly to DLA. DLA has increased their odds of counterfeit, particularly with clones which get by simple visual inspection being done by brokers. Authenticity is mistakenly being equated to Reliability and they are not the same.

"Self-policing" policy is not all SIA (and Rochester) has been promoting to DoD and is far too simplistic of a view. DoD needs to change how/when/what they buy for semiconductor devices to best avoid counterfeit and control obsolescence costs. Part of that strategy is to buy Authorized when available, but there's a lot more.

You can find me at Rochester. I am not hiding, just not logging into this spam-filled web site very often.
