There were some issues with some titles and licenses, but for the most part, it was a legit concern selling real products to real customers. They simply couldn't have stolen most of those titles, or re-sold them for profit, just because what they were doing was very public. The things were in arcades. Still are, probably.
What made it go south is anybody's guess. We'd need to get an insider's story on that. Someone other than Foley, I think. His stories always seem to turn on his own saintliness and generosity.
It doesn't seem as if the lawsuits from companies that didn't feel adequately compensated for the use of their titles tanked it. So where did the money go that they had to sell out to GlobalVR?
Knowing the story behind that would tell us more about Foley's business acumen, ethics, and instincts, for good or bad, and that would give us insight into how he might be running NTEK.
