In the introduction they report that they were analyzing real mutations that were reported: "we inventoried clinically reported BCR-ABL1 compound mutations".

One of the important things that I pulled out of the intro was their emphasis that these compound mutations result from the use of sequential TKIs. I'm excited to see this because it would emphasize that doctors should use the most powerful TKI first, rather than use a weak one and later switch to a stronger one.
