This is very true. I have seen it first hand. This is how it plays out. Its all about risk reward. The bigger the risk the larger the reward. I have been involved with a very large company who has done it both ways. Took some risk and purchased a product/technology prior to commercialization for relatively little money for market potential and lost and with others where we blew it out of the park. I have also seen 5 years agreements to have our sales force sell the product and fail (great deal for us.... glad we did not purchase that company) and the other way around. We sell the crap out of the product and put the company/technology on the map. Then when our sales agreement expires the company that we could have acquired for dirt cheep now wants a major premium and we either step up and pay it or watch it get sold to a competitor. All a crap shoot.... Happens all the time. I am long Titan, either way I think we win, its just how big!
