08:44 AM EDT, 08/04/2014 (MT Newswires) -- U.S. stocks looked set to move higher Monday, after ending a rough week lower Friday, and as corporate earnings took the spotlight amid a lack of economic data.
In equities, Michael Kors (KORS) shares initially rose sharply to a pre-bell high of $95, but were recently down 4.9% at $77.80. The fashion designer reported fiscal Q1 earnings and revenue that topped the Street's view but gave guidance for Q2 and FY2015 below the Street consensus.
Among other earnings reporters, TowerJazz (TSEM) rose 4.9% on better-than-expected Q2 results, but gave Q3 guidance that was mixed compared with consensus.
Meanwhile, Tekmira Pharmaceuticals (TKMR) extended gains from Friday, rising 8% before the bell. Its TKM-Ebola Phase 1 program is currently on clinical hold by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, but that is expected to be resolved by Q4. NanoViricides (NNVC) shares also jumped, up 9% in recent pre-market trading, after the company said it plans to restart its development program for a drug to fight Ebola virus.
