fuagf -- and that denial not limited to scientific reality -- it's a wholesale denial of/stance against anything in reality that (as it is) they can't (obvert and twist to) 'fit' with/into their ingrained/habituated/pounded-into-them preferred imaginings/beliefs/narratives which they project from within onto reality to pre-filter what (and how) they do, and do not, see in and of reality -- for most of them, beyond those pure just totally batshit true believers on the one end of the spectrum, and the opposite pure just totally sociopathic/psychotic/oh-please-we-don't-actually-believe-a-word-of-it cynics (often, perhaps even typically, much involved in driving things) on the other, I think there's clearly an unresolved inherently deeply cognitively dissonant placing/holding together of both self-delusion and cynicism
