If you have been in the market as long as I have I am sure you will agree that crazier things have happened and irrational exuberance does exist. All it will take is the MM's stepping off the ask.

I also know it is rare but there are brokerages out there that let you naked short stocks like this so that may be a factor as well, may.

Then there is also the 'possibility' that the 'news' may be 'a lot' better then 'anyone' has predicted. So you never know!
