Creationists cannot answer this definitively. There are several theories.

1) Light could have traveled at a faster speed than it does now.

2) There could be anything in space that would increase the speed of light as it travels through space.

OR...

3) God designed it so that we would have nothing better than to simply trust His word that that's how He created it.
