Surprisingly short-sighted comment from you, Nolerman. Of course in the grand scheme of things, DSS and its litigation against Apple is not significant to Apple. And of course, if DSS and Apple are going to meet in person, the meeting would take place on Apple's turf. But what is significant, extremely significant, is the fact that DSS and Apple already met face to face to discuss the lawsuit and a possible resolution. And by face to face, I don't mean the lawyers for each side meeting face to face. Representatives from the actual parties sat in a room and discussed this case. As you may or may not know, this is HIGHLY unusual in these types of cases (especially at this early stage). Apple gets sued all the time, and I doubt they invite each of the plaintiff's to their offices to discuss the merits of their respective cases. Put differently, Apple would never (as in not in a million years) invite what they perceive as a patent troll (or a litigant filing a mere nuisance suit) to their office without a court order requiring such a meeting. Why would they waste their time? So what this means, at its core, is that Apple thought enough of DSS and its case to schedule an in person meeting early on (well before the court ordered mediation), and that although the parties did not settle then and are not yet there today, there at least exists the possibility that after additional information is exchanged and the parties sit down together in the next 2 months (in a mediation which will actually require the attendance of party representatives that have the authority within their respective companies to agree on a settlement that day), a settlement could be reached. Accordingly, this significant development (that we did not know previously until this filing) should not be overlooked.
