Just a few random thoughts....

In the ultra competitive, multi billion dollar home entertainment market we've seen some dramatic changes in the past decade or so. Instead of just the handful of high end tv brands 10 years ago there are many more who have entered or are entering the market and looking to carve out their slice of pie.

I remember a family friend who, back in 1999, had just purchased a large, maybe 50" (don't recall) flat panel plasma, Panasonic or maybe Pioneer tv. I have no idea what the specific specs were on it but I'm sure they were horrible in comparison to what we have on the market today. That tv, if found today, brand new, still in the box would probably sell in the bargain bin for around $100 bucks and marked as an antique. Back then it was cutting edge technology, the best out there money could buy. This friend owned several televisions stations around the country. So, money was no object to him. I'll never forget what he paid for that thing, $17,000. I remember when he had guests over he'd put on a nature video with babbling brooks and leaves blowing to show off the quality of the picture. Once the oohs and ahhs subsided he'd change to a sporting event or some other program and comment that the reason the picture wasn't as good was because of the broadcast technology hadn't caught up with the tv sets capability to play hd. So, I thought to myself, '17k to watch water flow over rocks and leaves blow in the wind....hmmmm'.

Fast forward 15 years and it would seem we have a similar situation in some respects and yet different in others. TV panels, sets, whatever you want to call them can play 4K now. In a rush to beat everyone to market the panel manufactures/brands have been pumping out 4 k sets like hotcakes. Only problem was, these Ultra HD sets were set to come with an Ultra HPT (high price tag) but as was the case 15 years ago, there was very little content to play. That wasn't suppose to be the case, large set manufacturer/brands went to their R&D and said something like, 'people, we want to sell 4k sets and want you to develop 4k players to go along with them but make sure they only work on our sets. And be quick about it needed it yesterday'. R&D said 'yes sir!' because that's what R&D does. Then they go off scratching their heads and try to figure out how to get something to designed, manufactured and tested that can be sent to market "yesterday".

The big boys, not wanting their egos to be dinged by not having a 4k "player" (often confused (on purpose?) with 4K streaming) to showcase at CES 2014 and first to market, hastily threw something together they hoped would work. Well, we are now seeing the results of being hasty and not making sound business decisions AND proper r&d, beta testing, etc.

Uh Houston? Any buddy there?...we have a problem.

TV manufacturers/brands who advertised the 4K revolution like crazy and the retailers who have done so in concert with them have these '17,000 dollar' sets that absolutely, no question about it, are AMAZING! Unfortunately, someone forgot about the CONTENT........oops! Oh yea that stuff, Connntent.

So, millions of 4k sets already produced and for sale, 4k players that don't work or are laden with problems and little to no 4k content to play on those players and watch on those sets. 'Slash the price of the sets to move this inventory'! 'In the meantime, how do we get more 4K content Immediately?'

I keep thinking about Randolph and Mortimer Duke as I write this......Anyway, moving right along.

In a small space at CES 2014 there was this little ole company with this tiny little black box that they were showing off to passersby. The rest most of you reading this already know so I'll speed it along.

NTEK didn't rush to market with junk just so they could say they were first. NTEK didn't produce a piece of equipment that would only work on certain 4K sets, and sometimes none at all, etc. Nope, the guys at NTEK decided, 'lets make a device that works for everyone and on every set. And while we're at it, we'd better not overlook the obvious, CONTENT! Let's start a division dedicated to producing 4K content and then we'll sell that product again and again and again. While we're at it, lets sell all this on our very own channel. We'll develop an app that'll go on millions of sets around the world. No need to order a dvd online and then wait days for it to come in the mail, screw that. Point and click is all they'll need.'

And so it was done. Today, NTEK is the MASTER at delivering streaming 4K Ultra HD and they have no peer when it comes to the ALL IMPORTANT ALL CRITICAL 4K CONTENT.

Criticism will continue and continue and continue ad nauseam whenever there are billions upon billions of dollars to be made. NTEK has been quietly building out the infrastructure with facilities around the country, the world largest 4K content library and management team consisting of highly regarded industry leaders(that last part is critical). But even with all of these important components in place, what makes this an awesome opportunity is the huge, repetitive world wide demand and NTEK's ability to satisfy all aspects of that demand.

I believe NTEK has knowingly positioned itself to be in the right place at the right time. Ever play golf or hit a baseball before? Do you remember that feeling when you really smash the ball, hit a homerun or a drive to the green...hitting the sweet spot? Well, NTEK is hitting the sweet spot!

NTEK....GET SOME!!!
