I really want to discourage the board from engaging two unnamed posters. There is no sense arguing with them. Their minds are made up, and they do not ever intend to be objective.

They are advocating a very extreme, distorted and anything but objective assessment of NEOM. In my experience, that generally indicates an agenda or a client.

They will ignore or try to dismiss anything positive about NEOM and instead will constantly pick out this or that piece of information and wave it around as if it provides conclusive evidence of the correctness of their message.

Are there risks associated with NEOM? Sure. We all know that and have for a long time. But there is also a huge potential reward. Our two friends only want to talk about the former, not the latter.

Is there evidence that NEOM may not make it? Sure. But there is at least as much countervailing evidence indicating not only that it will survive but that it may thrive. Again, our two friends want to pretend as if the latter type of evidence does not exist or to dismiss it as an illusion.

Their minds are made up. If this were a real room, and not a discussion board, most of us would have figured out long ago how to ditch them and get out of the room. But here, we are a bit trapped by cyberspace. So we have to use the ignore button.

And if you are concerned about the newbies falling for their distorted nonsense, don't be. The newbies will catch on soon enough without us having to waste our posts responding to silliness.
