I've done that with the paper bags. It's really nice when they do ripen, I've had similar success though.

I'm a pure bred redneck, we fry anything. In fact, I picked just a few green beans the other night. Not enough to spend all the time fixing with bacon and onions, so I rolled them in flour, dipped them in egg whites, dipped them in the flour again and deep fried them. It was pretty darn good.
