I understood his point which was that he thinks there is nothing wrong with how the company has been run and will pump or defend any situation that occurs at the company. I thought I'd make the added point that typically great managers or leaders aren't subject matter experts, they make a profession out of leadership. We need someone who isn't so emotionally invested that they can see the forest through the trees. Also it would be useful to have a leader who hasn't spent 30 years at a small biotech so that they can share their insights from their successes.
