Amazon's Prime Instant Video service to land on Android soon, 4K content coming as well
According to PC Advisor, Amazon is bound to launch its Prime Instant Video Service for Android devices. At the moment, it is only available on the online retailer's own Android-powered Kindle Fire slates, iPad tablets, select game consoles, and Smart TVs. It is said that such an app for Android has been anticipated for a long time, and according to Russel Morris, a marketing director at Amazon Instant Video, the release of said app is going to be soon, likely to occur at any moment.

But Amazon seems to have even bigger plans for its video service. Apart from releasing an Android version, the commerce giant is reportedly going to endow Prime Instant Video with 4K content. Yet again, there is no information when that will happen, but it seems that Amazon's movie & TV division, Amazon Studios, has been shooting 4K content throughout 2014.

As the displays of mobile devices receive incremental bumps in the resolution department relatively often, it is normal that Amazon is about to target audiences that sport a non-Kindle or non-Apple tablets with its video service. After all, Quad HD-enabled displays already grace some devices, most notably the LG G3 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Tab S 10.5 – with these adoption rates, 4K-enabled displays might come even sooner than you think.

Amazon has just announced a partnership with Samsung and a slew of content providers, including Warner Bros., Lionsgate, 20th Century Fox, and Discovery. Under this new partnership, Amazon's Instant Video service will provide 4K content from its partner studios
