Elmer, Opteron motherboards: theInquirer's article speaks to the retail market - the DIY crowd for Opterons. Since this is a server launch, I suspect that most of the boards are dedicated to OEM sales and that the DIY's are considered secondary.

I suspect Newisys has all the boards they need. AMD is interested in getting whole (and reliable) systems into evaluation, there is actually a negative to the retail distribution of motherboards to DIY's who will try all sorts of weird configurations that may or may not work.
