When I first started doing robotic colon resections the intuitive rep was insistent that I used three arms. The third arm seemed to always get in the way and was more of a nuisance for me. Over time and after speaking to other surgeons, I realized that using just two arms with an assistant retracting for me worked out much better. Surgeons only have 2 arms. I think the most advanced surgical robots will as well. I think the surgeon who developed SPORT knows this too IMHO.
