Yes, I would sell my long position before going long. I wouldn't buy apple put options cause they're overpriced the theoretical price of the August 90 PUT is .20 but sells for $1.43 over 7 times what it's worth.

Question? I never shorted a stock. I assume you own share. If you decide to short do you have to sell out of your long position first? If so, why not just buy PUT options...?
