But if they have vast numbers of warrants and options that expire in a decade, why would they buy now anyway? Even if they know that TC is going to sign a $10m deal next week, why buy now when you can exercise those options at any point?

Or do you mean why don't they buy on the open market, so they can accumulate even more than the stock that is being awarded to them in options? That is an interesting question. Perhaps they feel that the stock they will receive through the warrants and options is sufficient?
