I agree, it is a pretty long wait for most companies in other industries to show growth and revenue. However, one has to take into consideration the industry overall IMO. This isn't just a "product based" company, it is a R&D company delving into a field that has only some 50+ years since it's inception with plenty of controversy stunning its advances from day1 in political and social fronts IMO. In any other industry 15yrs of minimal/no growth may be considered a failure. This industry however is a monster of its own nature IMO.

As for your question: it took Medical Development Corporation from 1957 to 1996 to join Johnson&Johnson under the new name Cordis Corporation. What took it there was not the MM but the science IMO. So as I said before, financial assessment may indicate one thing, but science isn't always dictated by finance alone IMHO.
