REDG insights: 5/7/14

I happened into a comic book store last Saturday in Chicago, and asked the guy at the shop about Free Comic Book Day. He told me that of course they were participating, and the way he responded leads me to believe that this really is quite a big day within their community.

I asked him about Red Giant specifically, and he didn't seem to know much about it, but he did say that there was a lot of enthusiasm over two of their titles:
1. Wayward Sons
2. He didn't remember the name

This is from Beamin1's PotStockRadio interview:

– 'There is some debt, but anyone who thinks this is just a comic book company is going to be really surprised in another year.'

– 'Benny Powell there has a long history of successful marketing. The man is a genius, and the company is staffed by top notch industry professionals. The company pays world wide for top notch industry talent. It doesn't matter if it is in China where their printers are, or in the Philippines where their CGI offices are, they go where the talent is.

– 'Money always follows management'

DD:
- Stand out quotes from an article published in Feb 2013, link below:

"It's not really a far fetched connection between the Red Giant Entertainment and Marvell Entertainment: the Company's CEO and Sole Director, Benny Powell, and Stan Lee, co-creator of such beloved heroes as Spider-Man, the X-Men, Hulk and Iron Man have done some work together."

"Even though Red Giant Entertainment is a relatively new company, the experience of the creative talent and staff are not new names to the industry. The large majority of successful contributors are hand-picked from the upper echelon of the comic book fan favorites."

- David Campiti's roster and connections are deep:

"Today, in addition to the U.S. office, Campiti oversees offices in Brazil as well as in Manila, Jakarta, and various locations in Europe, coordinating art from a roster of over 125 talents worldwide to produce art and digital graphics for Disney Publishing Worldwide, DreamWorks Publishing, Hasbro, Reader's Digest Books, LEGO, Stone Arch Books, Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Dynamite, Del Rey, Red Giant Entertainment, Rittenhouse Archives, Upper Deck, Trepidation, Marshall Holt Entertainment, IDW, BDI, and other companies. He also teaches seminars throughout the U.S. at conventions and art schools, Brazil, and the Philippines on a regular basis, and is responsible for launching the professional careers of more than 300 artists in the past 31 years"
