In the last days several posters have raised concerns about other IT companies offering competitive solutions to compliment functionality of the Chromebook
I also saw a tweet from Simon Bramfitt following up on this topic:
@pbookman @Darkkasser Best to say @Ericom_Software compliments and extends Citrix MS and VMware app and desktop virtualization
As there seems to be quite a bit of worry every time someone finds another company that claims they have good solutions for Chromebook users, I would like to clarify that these "competitive solutions for Chromebooks" are not comparable at all with what Sphere 3D currently offers with Glassware 2.0!
Multiple IT companies offering solutions to Chromebook users claim they will render it possible:
- to have Microsoft Office run on the Chromebook. To use the words of Simon Bramfitt, they “compliment and extend Citrix MS and VMware app and desktop virtualization”
- to make applications available beyond what is offered through Google Play or Google Chrome APIs
- to run native company applications
To me, the difference is that these companies offer solutions through HTML5 + VDI/RDSH, while Glassware 2.0 breaks with this complexity.
- Glassware 2.0 establishes a direct weblink to "stream applications" and doesn't need to interact with HTML5 and its multifunctional complexity.
- The Glassware 2.0 Microvisor can operate without the set-up of a VDI or RDSH skeleton resulting in fast, simple and easy to manage installations and operations of applications. It only takes a mere 6 steps to virtualize any Windows based application!
- With Glassware 2.0 publishers are freed from the need and cost to rewrite applications (porting) ifo the BYOD OS
- Glassware 2.0 over more provides solutions for so called EOL or obsolete software apps.
Simplexity is what Sphere 3 D strives wherever and whenever only virtualization of applications is needed.
Let’s not forget also that with V3 solutions, Sphere 3D is also partners with VMware and alikes, thereby being fully capable to offer solutions through HTML5 + VDI/RDSH whenever needed by its customers.
To a user all this results in:
- Better usage of the available internet bandwidth resulting in less lag for the applications,
- No issues with porting of legacy applications,
- No issues with EOL or Obsolete software apps,
- Easier, faster and simpler installation,
- Minimal need for external follow-up management,
- Lower energy usage,
- Higher level of security as no HTML5, VDI/RDSH is involved,
- Lower cost of installation and operation.
As a conclusion, if I am a company CIO pondering if buying Chromebooks makes sense and if yes which company to choose to provide Windows application and other applications hosting services.....it would be an easy decision!
