Could the PM delay have been been a hint that the DB was somehow fubar'd?

And, what kind of ISP doesn't keep a switch monkey on site, holiday weekend or not?!

Let's see... last time SI was down overnight we woke up in Kansas. Maybe this time we'll wake up on the Nebuchadnezzar.
