I have checked into that with several brokers, including Ameritrade. The costs of doing so are exhorbitant for Americans. We have discussed this on this board before. You can set up an account in Canada, but that involves a lot of trouble and expense and can only be justified if you are going to do a lot of trading in Canadian stocks.

If anybody knows of a specific broker that does NOT charge a penny a share each way, plus lots of spiff on the currency change, I am all ears.
