With all due respect, I have to disagree. smile

I think Intel will introduce a quad core part in Q4 of *this year*. AMD will have to respond, and I think they have two choices. Either a 90nm "just for show" part that will be low volume, expensive, and Paxville-esque in specifications. It won't be pretty, but it will be early (possibly Q4 along with Intel's part). The other choice is to go 65nm quad core variant in H1 2007 (March to May time frame) that's basically a shrink of the current F-step, except with quad cores. I still don't expect K8L, or G-step, or whatever it is, until mid-2007 at the earliest (June to September time frame).

They don't have the resources to do three quad core projects (90nm, 65nm shrink, and 65nm K8L), but they might have the ability to do two if it means competing with Intel in the "quad core race". The question is which two will it be?
