It's my understanding that Basu only has something to gain and nothing to lose in this trial. If she wins she gains and if the court finds in favor of Grewel she loses nothing. Right?

Let's get this cleared up.

There are 29 entities involved in this trial who stand to win or lose:

1) There is the plaintiff, who is PPJ Enterprise. Note that Chandana Basu is NOT a plaintiff in this trial, so she does NOT stand to gain anything, except for through her holdings in PPJ Enterprise.

2) There are is Narinder S. Grewal, a natural person, who is a defendant.

3) There is Narinder S. Grewal, M.D., a California corporation, who is a defendant. This corporation does business as the Santa Clarita Surgery Center for Advanced Pain Management.

4-28) There are 25 unnamed entities, otherwise known as "Does" who are defendants.

29) There is Chandana Basu, who has been named in a countersuit by Grewal as a cross-defendant.

Note that PPJ Enterprise has also been named in the countersuit as a cross-defendant.
