In general, how profitable are factory outlets? I honestly don't know. On one hand they let a manufacturer cut out the middle man, on the other hand many seem to have a bunch of loser styles and colors - basically remainders - in stock (yes, we have some great polo shirts, as long as you like XXXL in pink or XS in puce).

Outlet stores do seem to be proliferating (maybe to the point of oversaturation), which would suggests that other manufacturers see them as a profit center.
