I was there so I know what I'm talking about. The R/V Hispaniola was a fine and well outfitted vessel. Had lots of good things to do but never any money to do them. So one may ask, where was the money going? The ship is not an old rusty bucket. She's built of aluminum. Aluminum vessels need constant anode replacements every couple of months and dry dock on an annual basis. The Hispaniola hasn't been dry docked in over six years and anodes haven't been replaced in close to three years. The hull is now dangerous. Besides that, she is now renegade, meaning without U.S. Coast Guard or American Bureau of Ships documentation. She can't get documentation thus MEX faces very high fines. The Dominican Navy will not allow her to leave port even if she could. So now it inevitably appears to be scrapping time. What did Goldberg say once. Moments away from leaving the dock? If I'm not mistaken, their still misleading people to believe their in the treasure hunting / marine salvage business. How long can a con deal like this continue?
