Each state is different. Selling in the USA, non compete's are enforced. I know California is an exemption. There are several blue states that won't enforce. Unfortunately, there are very few. The good news is, getting a start up mentality is key and there are a number of people to fill that role. Having the robotic experience is a plus. I just hope that management realizes that value.
