Scottrade doesn't have live auctions...

The price someone is selling their shares for = Ask

The Price one wishes to purchase shares at= Bid

There's no negotiations.

Scottrade doesn't call you back with a counter-offer...

One party has to move one way or the other for the SELL to take place.
