I think some are trying to imply that if you keep mulch completely wet it won't burn. Well that is probably true but to keep it completely wet would take huge amounts of water and cause mold and spraying the exterior of an pile only makes it worse because the heat generates from within and not on the outside and any weight added to the pile only makes things worse. The BEST way to store mulch is COMPLETELY dry and covered so moisture can't get to it. I suppose we could say we could prevent house fires to by building out houses under water couldn't we?
