As a past residential remodeler, I find a great comparison of the old and worn out, often 'behind code' homes I worked on, to KMAG the greysheet.
Both have/had fallen from the graces of the current status quo, and neither were capable of quick fixes to today's acceptability.
Neither were, or are, totally hopeless though.
Thru time and much hard work and perseverance, both have been/are capable of being most excellent investments.
No different than any old home who's codes have fallen behind, KMAG is and will be updated and quite 'livable' once all 'new work' has passed inspection.
Yes, sometimes, this 'new work' requires considerably more than first expected, including updates and fees not originally planned, resulting in delays unforeseen.
In the end however, patience and perseverance always pays/paid a reward that makes/made the undertaking well worth the while.
KMAG, like all the dilapidated homes I've ever worked on, will eventually be a place people will feel comfortable having parked their money.
(Ask me about remodeling Ulysses S. Grants' summer cabin, in Pinckney Mi, sometime.)
