The fact that PrintRite INSPECT is in beta leads me to believe this is not a showstopper for commercialization, but possibly a SAP connector/adapter/module for those that want it.

"Many of our customers are using existing manufacturing systems which will need to be integrated with the increasingly large quantities of new data generated by our PrintRite3D® systems in application of advanced manufacturing technologies. Therefore, to ensure the successful implementation of these advanced manufacturing technologies, we must provide our customers with the tools and methods they will need to manage the terabytes of data per part that will be generated as a result of using PrintRite3D® systems as integrated functions within their overall advanced manufacturing enterprise. We have tasked Adurant Technologies to help us develop the architecture, data integration and reporting requirements that will meet these needs and interface seamlessly with enterprise systems from ORACLE Corporation® and SAP AG®. This is an emerging problem for all of additive manufacturing, and we intend to be a leader in offering this critical data management tool."

Note the use of many, not all. Many profitable commercialized manufacturing technologies are in use today. Some are using SAP, others are not. Current PrintRite methods may be adequate for the next year or two but as data needs grow, Sigma will need to be ready. A similar press release could easily be coming from several profitable technology providers(even GE).

This enhances what we are doing with our other commercialization partners, namely Materialise NV and Metronic Systems, LLC. Those efforts are focused on commercialization of our PrintRite3D® INSPECT™ and DEFORM™ modules, respectively.

Enhances is the important word for me. I interpret it as value added but not required...more akin to INSPECT 2.0. If they used words like enables etc...I'd be more concerned.

I love the fact that we have an Oracle "ringer" in the house! Lot's of nerds in this stock. Which makes sense as you kinda need to be one to understand it's value. This is part of why I believe this stock won't catch on until there's revs and an uplist.

I'm not a big SAP guy but I do have some experience with "big data"...namely Hadoop. For the non developers out there, you don't necessarily need to know how it works (ie. is the data structured, non structured, multi-structured etc...) Just know that it allows for analyzing huge chunks of data quickly. One thing I've found is that big data projects like what they are discussing are never finished...they generally begin, then continually evolve until they migrate to yet another platform.

My overall feeling is that PrintRite INSPECT is working. Now, they want to make it better, scale it up, and make it play well with others etc...(Either that or all of these agreements and press releases are just word judo and we're F'd).

On that note...DEFORM may be more reliant on the advantages that a big data solution can provide since it will need to interpret data quickly and adjust on the fly...but that is a conversation for Thanksgiving.

GLTA,
Cheers!
