As Project Director, Mr. Van Houten managed the design and development of all strategies required to launch a European company in Africa. The strategies included the Deployment Strategy, Product Strategy, Risk Management Plan, Competitive Management Plan, Business Development Strategy and the Mobilization Plan.

As Director, Mr. Van Houten successfully managed Bids/Tenders for a Defense Contracting Company supporting KBR, Fluor and DynCorp, US Army, British Army, NATO/NAMSA, Deutsche Bundeswehr, and French Army, successfully capturing over $750,000,000 in new revenue over a period of 3 years. Responsibilities include the development of a pipeline in excess of $15,000,000 per year in new business, management of in-country managers on existing projects, management of equipment and product supply chain and procurement, contract management, tender development and costing.
Success: Developed a solid pipeline of over $20,000,000 in new projects within 3 months. Secured 2 small projects in the DRC and was able to penetrate all new potential clients identified as extreme priority by the company’s Executive Management and Ownership team. Developed various Project Plans for the management of supplies, resources and quality controls. Secured new suppliers and reduced cost through renegotiating with existing suppliers.
Reason for leaving: Company decided to start dis-investment in Africa and focus their attention on their existing Chinese customer based in China and Hong Kong.
