to Edison, "good progress" might be failing 10,000 times in a seemingly elaborate exclusion of variables. so basically a flat-line of progress marked by punctuated moments of progress or insight.

To others, it could be slow and steady incremental improvements.

It's the old punctuated equilibrium vs gradualism debate. the evolution of a technology.


Based on previous cell news and efficiency results I think he meant the latter. Just tinkering around with the last bit of efficiency or manufacturable materials maybe?

its far better than him saying "we continue to work on the 3D cell" or something less encouraging.
