The real definition of liberalism is freedom without responsibility, freedom without consequences, and freedom without judgement. When people are young they are naturally liberal because they don't know any better but as they grow up and gain wisdom, knowledge, and experience they realize that real life requires responsibilities, their actions have consequences, and those actions will be judged upon by society. In essence, liberals are what happens when you fail to mature as an adult. It is a childlike ideology and view of the world. If you're an adult and still liberal you should be ashamed of yourself. I have no problems with liberals per se except for the fact that they are used by despots, progressives, and tyrants to gain power. It's no wonder that the term "useful idiots" originated by communist dictators to describe liberals.
