This is a very real concern, and MYEC would have been a perfect target for naked shorting since they struggled through the loss of their banking partners during the banking crash of 2009/2010. Now that they've turned their business around and are growing exponentially, I can imagine that an invisible war is being raged behind the scenes...hence the reason some foreign investors have claimed to have their shares taken then compensated at cost and why other investors, myself included, have been targeted by their brokers and are being encouraged to "diversify" their MYEC holdings...
