I have to assume the engine fit. My understanding was that the signed a contract to supply the larger engine for the car (was that the Mark 6?)but then pleaded inability to supply it in time...which was pretty honest, they still haven't built one all these years later.

Then my understanding is that the plan was to supply the much smaller Mark 5 as an interim solution to set the record and then install the -6 later when it became available to raise the record to something really respectable. Of course, the Mark 5 wasn't available two years after the 6 was supposed to be delivered, so the partnership broke up with Cyclone, of all parties, doing the suing and claiming bad faith. We won't talk about what this kind of thing says about Cyclone supporters.

I'm guessing the engine bay was built to fit the Mark 5, and they probably did some modifications on the engine itself to move some of the attached hardware like the blowers in order to reduce the frontal area a bit to make it fit the space.
