Torqputty - I've been trying to tell people the NDX is stuck in the mud. It is weighed down by the old "has been" dinosaurs like INTC, MSFT, and CSCO. Then they went and put GOOG in the index. Geez! Why trade such a choppy index? I trade mostly RUT futures. RUT trends very well.

And the SPX I am also starting to get interested in trading - The reason being that the Banks LEAD the SPX and the banks often give you a "heads up" on what will happen with the SPX. It even works intra-day -- If the SPX is ramping up to new intra-day highs but the BKX is lagging, look for shorts on the SPX because it will follow the BKX. (I plan to write a little article about this at the woodiecciclub/forum (bulletin board).
