I can really only give my opinion on (AUSA) Assistant U.S Attorney in the DOJ. They have always been and I would assume still be incredibly talented people with a very high moral compass. Very thorough and professional in my experience all the way around.

That's why this seems strange to me. It is possible the defense is of much lower quality here. I've just never seen this "my cousin vinney" approach play well with any District Judge.
